This is an up date on the rebuilding of St. Paul UMC at Pass Christian.
Over the last two weeks teams have done some remarkable work in the recovery effort for the church. The cross is back on the front of the church, the entrance areas are repaired or replaced, the walls are starting to be repaired, the electrical is completed, the plumbing has been installed partly, the heater and air will be done this week and hopefully all of the inspection will be done within the next two weeks. In two weeks a team will be taking down the windows to be installed.

June 11th thru 16th: Palestine UMC traveled to St. Paul and installed 18 windows, after having to tear out all the old windows before the new ones could be installed, puttied and taped sheet-rock walls in the Sanctuary and painted the front and back walls of the church building. They a met a couple Joe & Alma Didaux who gave them a brief summary of the history of the area and shared with us their impressions of Hurricane Katrina. Alma told them of the history of the wooden lighted cross that was found in the bathroom. It was suggested by one of the team members to bring the cross back home to Palestine where it could be restored and re-wired. Plans are to return the cross to the congregation at St. Paul upon completion of the restoration on the church and present it to the church. Palestine discussed the possibility of chartering a tour bus and take a group from Palestine Charge.

This email is a call for any assistance that you may be able to give. The windows will cost us $4100. and the heater and air will be $13,400. If you are planning to send any funds to assist St. Paul now is a good time. Thank you for all you have done and are planning to do in this rebuilding effort.  Thanks for the way you do Gods work.  Cyde Penry

**Please note that there has been a cancellation from one of our building teams in July. Monroe: Central UMC will not be going the week of July 9th thru 15th as planned and we desperately need to have this time slot filled to keep up with the schedule. If anyone can go during this time, please contact Rev. Clyde Penry as soon as possible.**

If anyone would like to be on a working building team or would like further information concerning building teams, please contact the Albemarle District Office at 704-983-1104 or Rev. Clyde Penry at 704-982-8158.

We appreciate all what everyone has done so far in the effort to get St. Paul UMC back on their feet. With your help and God's Grace, we will accomplish our goal as a District to give back to the community a much needed sanctuary of love and grace.
